Tutorial on how to change your WordPress blog menu bar to customize it to look how you want.
Mike: Hi, it’s Mike. And in this video, I want to show you how to change the menu bar at the top of your WordPress blog. Now, let’s go to our blog post. You can see here we have Home, About, Products and Resources, Work With Us, and the blog itself to get straight to the blog. And it made me want to change those around. They were actually pretty easy to change around.
So what I wanna do, you guys, I’m gonna go to the dashboard, which I already have open. And what I want to do is go under Appearance and go to Menus. Okay? And then you can see here what I’ve done is you can go to [inaudible 00:00:42]. In this case here, you can go to the blog name, which has already been open, except there’s been some changes to it. And it’s pretty easy. So for instance, say, I want to… Let’s go ahead here and we can rename something. Okay? And go ahead and you can change this and call it Blog Posts. Okay? You can do that if you wanted to call it Blog Posts.
And then we can go ahead, and you can move it around. So for instance, let’s go ahead and close it. Close it. You can put it over here if we wanted to, right? Just click and drag it. I’ll put it back here because that’s where I want it. And then maybe you want to add a new one. So I already had… Let’s see here. Let’s go ahead and call it linkyard[SP] happier[SP]. So what I can do… Say, for instance, I want people to go to our boot camp. Okay? Just another link within our system here. A static page. So what I can do is I can go ahead and… Let’s see here. Go ahead.
What I want to do, you guys, I want to add something onto here. So let’s see here. I haven’t visited very often here, so let’s go ahead and do links. There we go. That’s what I want, links. And I’ll say this here is bootcamp. Free Bootcamp. Okay? Add to menu. Free Bootcamp. I can go ahead and put it wherever I want. Say if I want it right by the Work With Us page, all I do it hit Save. Okay? Then go up here. And if I hit refresh…Give it a second here. It’s loading here.
You can see here that, now, it’s added Free Boot camp. Okay? So now, if I click on Free Bootcamp, you can see here it takes us right to the page we have on bootcamp. Okay? See how easy it is? It’s really not that difficult at all to change around. So if you are just starting out for your blog, you can go ahead and create your static pages. Down the road, I wouldn’t rush to create those. Start creating blog posts right away. But as you create static pages, you want to add them to your menu bar. Go ahead and do that, and it’s that simple. Okay?
