WordPress does allow you to change the dates on the posts you write.

You can publish articles with any date and time including backdating or scheduling out into the future.

To do this go to the post you want to change and click edit next to the date.

If you move the date into the future the publish button will become a schedule button.

Putting the date into the past places the post in chronological order.
